Harrogate, North Yourshire
6th -7th February 2003
The UK Chapter of the System Dynamics Society has grown in strength this year. Two meetings have been held in the UK and the Chapter has been approved to host the 2004 conference of the International System Dynamics Society. This will be held at Keble College Oxford.
The next meeting of the Chapter will be the Annual Gathering 2003, on 6th – 7th February 2003, and it is open to anyone with an interest in System Dynamics; you DO NOT have to be a member of the System Dynamics Society.
The meeting this year has been given a new and innovative format. Our intention is to give members a flavour of some state of the art applications in system dynamics AND an opportunity to question and learn from experts in the field across a wide spectrum of issues.
Keynote Speakers include:
David Andersen – Professor of Public Administration, Public Policy, and Information Science at the Rockefeller College, University at Albany, USA
Andre Hare – Head of Economic and Operational Research Division, Department of Health, UK
Steve Brewis – Strategy Manager, BT, UK
Lars Finskud – Director, Vanguard Brand Management, UK

1. What will happen?
The successful format of the event last year has been retained. The intention is to give members a flavour of some state of the art applications in system dynamics AND an opportunity to question and learn from experts in the field across a wide spectrum of issues. On Thursday afternoon, we will have four keynote speakers; all prominent practitioners of system dynamics applied to strategy who will each provide a brief overview of their application areas. This will be followed by a parallel set of breakout sessions where both the speakers and other prominent practitioners from the system dynamics community will be available in an informal setting to facilitate discussions on issues of interest to participants.
As before we expect to present the UK Chapter Award for the best student project (undergraduate & MSc, not doctorate level) in system dynamics at UK Universities, generously sponsored by HVR-CSL. The winner will receive a cash prize and give a short presentation of his or her work. If you teach system dynamics and have student work you would like to submit, please contact Professor Alfredo Moscardini at Alfredo.firstname.lastname@example.org who will give you all the details. Also contact him if you are a student and want to find out how to get your work considered. Finally, there will be a short business meeting of the UK Chapter, and all participants can attend this meeting. It is not restricted to members of the System Dynamics Society.
2. What Does It Cost and How Do I Book?
Please see the Booking form for details. Book early! We are aiming for more people than could come to previous meetings, but numbers will still be restricted so that we don’t lose the personal touch. If you can’t come, or book too late to get a place, but want to keep in touch there is a fee of £30 for a year’s membership of the Chapter, which includes a copy of the view foils or PowerPoint slides used by the speakers.
I hope that you will come for what promises to be an interesting and fun day.
